NNPP Member Resigns Over Neglect

NNPP lawmakers deny plans to dump party, pledge loyalty to Kwankwasiya movement

A prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Bichi Local Government Area, Hon. Jamilu Kabir Bichi, has submitted his resignation from the party, citing consistent marginalization despite his significant contributions. In a letter dated November 19, 2025, addressed to the party’s ward chairman, Kabir expressed his decision as “painful yet necessary,” stemming from the party’s alleged neglect of his efforts and those of his supporters in his home community.

As the Director-General of the 2023 NNPP Campaign in Bichi, Kabir’s resignation comes as a significant development. He stated that the party’s leadership has failed to acknowledge the sacrifices and efforts of loyal members, leading to widespread disillusionment. The leadership’s inability to recognize the contributions of committed members who worked tirelessly to build the party has been particularly disheartening, according to Kabir.

Kabir also highlighted the party’s failure to provide opportunities for dedicated members to serve in the party or government after electoral victories. This, he believes, has made it impossible for him to continue his association with the NNPP. As a principled individual with a clear political vision and mission, Kabir emphasized that he can no longer remain in a party that compromises his values.

In his letter, Kabir expressed gratitude to his political mentor, former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Ahmad Garba Bichi, praising his patience, loyalty, and straightforwardness. He reassured his commitment to practicing “politics without bitterness” and ended his letter with a prayer, seeking divine guidance for the people of Bichi, Kano, and Nigeria. Kabir also pledged to continue serving humanity, underscoring his dedication to the greater good.

The resignation of Hon. Jamilu Kabir Bichi from the NNPP may have significant implications for the party’s structure and morale in Bichi Local Government Area. As a key figure in the party, his departure could lead to a reevaluation of the party’s approach to member engagement and recognition. The development also highlights the importance of acknowledging the contributions of loyal party members and providing opportunities for their growth and participation.
