The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has petitioned against Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Atta, over his alleged unruly behavior and inflammatory remarks. The party claims that Atta’s comments could cause chaos and uncertainty in the state.
In a letter dated November 21, 2025, and signed by APC Kano State Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, the party expressed concern that Atta’s statements “have the tendency to provoke misunderstandings and disunity among members.” The letter was addressed to key party leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and Kano State Party Leader, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The party warned Atta to refrain from making public comments on party matters, stating that such actions may be misconstrued as official party positions. As a minister and member of the Federal Executive Council, Atta is expected to promote unity among party members. However, the party noted that Atta has a history of making “uncomplimentary and derogatory public pronouncements,” which may attract further disciplinary action if he fails to desist.
The APC recognized Atta’s right to support any aspirant of his choice but emphasized that party affairs are strictly within the purview of the APC leadership and its designated spokespersons. The party’s warning to Atta is seen as an effort to maintain unity and discipline within its ranks.
The development comes as the APC continues to navigate its internal dynamics ahead of future elections. The party’s move to caution Atta reflects its commitment to ensuring that its members adhere to its code of conduct and maintain a united front. With the APC being one of the major political parties in Nigeria, its internal developments are closely watched by political observers and analysts. The outcome of this situation will likely be monitored closely, as it may have implications for the party’s future direction and cohesion.
