The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has commenced outstanding activities under Phase One of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. This development follows a circular released by the Commission’s National Headquarters, aligning with the approved national timeline for the ongoing CVR.
According to a statement issued by the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the initiative aims to ensure all eligible citizens have the opportunity to register, update their details, or verify their records ahead of future electoral processes. The Commission remains committed to ensuring that all eligible voters have an opportunity to register, with Phase One of the exercise set to continue until December 10, 2025.
As part of the process, the printing of the Preliminary Register of Voters will take place between December 13 and 14, 2025, to facilitate preparations for the mandatory display of the register. The display for claims and objections will run from December 16 to 21, 2025, during which registered voters and the general public are encouraged to visit the local government offices of the Commission to verify their details.
Members of the public are free to raise claims or objections as necessary during the seven-day period, with the Commission handling complaints arising from the display exercise on December 21, 2025. Necessary updates to the register will be carried out on December 22, 2025, to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the voter database.
The CVR exercise will resume for Phase Two on January 5, 2026, providing an opportunity for all eligible citizens who have not registered or need to update their details to do so. The Commission urges all eligible citizens to take advantage of this window, reaffirming its dedication to consolidating Nigeria’s electoral process.
The public is advised to follow official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid misinformation. As the electoral process continues to unfold, the Commission’s efforts to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the voter register are crucial in maintaining the credibility of Nigeria’s democratic system. With the CVR exercise ongoing, citizens are encouraged to participate and exercise their right to vote, contributing to the country’s democratic development.
