A prominent Nigerian musician, Obesere, was allegedly attacked by a group of thugs led by Michael Abbey, also known as “Emir,” during a performance in Ondo State on Friday. The incident occurred at a burial ceremony held at the Government Field in Okitipupa, where Obesere was performing as part of the Fuji music entertainment.
According to eyewitnesses, the thugs stormed the venue without warning, sparking chaos and violence. Obesere’s manager attempted to shield him but was stabbed with a broken bottle in the process. The musician’s personal belongings, including his mobile phone, wristwatch, and gold chain, were reportedly stolen, along with a bag containing approximately N4 million in cash.
A witness, Bosede Akinyemi, described the incident as a “disgraceful act” and described how a gang of local thugs attacked Obesere and his band while they were performing on stage. The sudden outbreak of violence forced guests to flee for safety, resulting in a disruption of the event.
