Nigeria’s Insecurity Worsens Amid Govt Neglect

Insecurity: APC only concerned about receiving defectors - Buba Galadima

A member of the Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Buba Galadima, has criticized the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government for its handling of Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation. In an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ program, Galadima accused the government of prioritizing politics over governance, allocating 99% of its time to politicking.

Galadima emphasized that governance in a country like Nigeria requires dedication and sacrifice from leaders, rather than a focus on personal gain. He noted that leaders should devote most of their time to addressing the nation’s challenges, rather than indulging in leisure activities. The current administration, he argued, is more concerned with receiving defectors and undermining opposition parties than with tackling the country’s pressing issues, including insecurity.

The politician warned that the destruction of opposition parties could have far-reaching consequences, including the erosion of democracy and a slide into fascism and dictatorship. He urged the government to reconsider its priorities and focus on protecting lives and properties, emphasizing the importance of a robust opposition in a democratic system.

Nigeria has been grappling with worsening insecurity, including terrorist attacks, banditry, and kidnappings, which have resulted in significant human and economic losses. The government has faced criticism for its response to these challenges, with many calling for a more effective and sustained approach to addressing the root causes of insecurity.

Galadima’s comments highlight the need for the government to rebalance its priorities and devote more attention to addressing the country’s pressing challenges. As Nigeria prepares for upcoming elections, the issue of insecurity is likely to remain a major concern for voters, and the government’s response will be closely scrutinized. The international community is also watching the situation in Nigeria, with many calling for greater support and cooperation to address the regional and global implications of the country’s insecurity.
