PDP Crisis: Jigawa Stakeholders Urge Lamido to Defect

A group of stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has advised former Governor Sule Lamido to consider leaving the party due to its ongoing internal crisis. This recommendation was made in a communiqué issued after a meeting at the PDP state secretariat, signed by the chairman, Hon. Ali Idris Diginsa.

The stakeholders expressed concern over the party’s deepening internal crisis and the leadership’s inability to resolve lingering disputes. They accused the party of sidelining Lamido and preventing him from contesting for the position of national chairman. The recent confrontation between Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja was cited as an example of the party’s weaknesses.

The PDP has been plagued by persistent divisions, distrust, and unending rancor among its members, making it a less formidable national platform. Despite this, the party chairmen reaffirmed their loyalty to Sule Lamido and promised to support him in any decision he makes. Lamido is notable for being the only surviving member of the historic G9 and G18 groups who has never abandoned the PDP, even during challenging times.

The stakeholders urged Lamido to seek a viable political platform that would allow his followers to pursue their goals for a greater Jigawa and Nigeria. This development highlights the ongoing struggles within the PDP and the potential for significant changes in the party’s leadership and structure. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the PDP will address its internal issues and regain its footing as a major political force. The decision by Lamido, a key figure in the party, will likely have significant implications for the PDP and the political landscape in Nigeria.
