Juventus have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in January. The 20‑year‑old has struggled for regular playing time under manager Rúben Amorim this season, making just nine appearances across all competitions and starting only once in the EFL Cup.

Mainoo came through United’s youth ranks and initially impressed in his senior career, accumulating 81 appearances, seven goals and three assists. However, breaking into the first team has proven difficult. Napoli, who previously signed United’s Scott McTominay in 2024 and have Rasmus Hojlund on loan, are also said to be interested in the young midfielder, looking to further strengthen their squad.

Juventus see Mainoo as a potential key player, drawing comparisons with former United midfielder Paul Pogba, who joined Juventus from Old Trafford in 2012, returned to United in 2016, left in 2022 and later re‑joined Juventus. Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has advised Mainoo to learn from veteran teammate Casemiro, whose work ethic and personality helped him turn his career around after a criticized season. Casemiro now starts regularly, featuring in 10 of his 11 appearances under Amorim.

As Mainoo seeks regular playing time to bolster his chances of making England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, a move to either Juventus or Napoli could provide the experience and development he needs. With both clubs reportedly interested, his future is likely to be decided in the January transfer window.
