Dangote Refinery to supply 1.5bn litres of petrol monthly — Daily Nigerian

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to supply 1.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Nigerian market in December 2025 and January 2026. This move aims to ensure uninterrupted nationwide fuel availability during the festive season and into the New Year. President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, disclosed that the refinery will make available 50 million litres of PMS daily starting December 1.

The refinery currently has adequate stock and is producing between 40 and 45 million litres of PMS daily. Dangote stated that the daily supply of 50 million litres should dispel claims that domestic refineries lack the capacity to meet national demand. The company has engaged with petroleum marketers to strengthen distribution systems, including expanding the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered haulage.

In a letter to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Dangote Refinery invited the regulator to verify its daily production capacity. The company requested that NMDPRA officials visit the refinery to validate and publicly confirm its daily supply volumes. Dangote Refinery is also progressing with its expansion plan to reach a capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day, which is expected to involve over 100,000 workers.

The Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Usoro Offiong Akpabio, commended Dangote’s contribution to strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capability and national energy security. She noted that the South-South region is Nigeria’s natural energy corridor, with vast crude oil reserves and gas infrastructure. Akpabio suggested that deeper collaboration between the region and the Dangote Group could unlock opportunities in product distribution, CNG infrastructure, petrochemicals, agriculture, and employment creation.

The planned increase in PMS supply is expected to advance the Federal Government’s energy stability agenda and position the South-South as a strategic growth hub for the Dangote Group. The SSDC has offered to support state-level policy and regulatory adjustments to enable a conducive business environment for the Dangote Group’s expansion into strategic sectors. With this development, Nigeria is poised to experience a significant improvement in fuel availability, which could have a positive impact on the country’s economic activities during the festive season and beyond.
