Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to supply 50 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily to the Nigerian market, totaling 1.5 billion litres in December 2025 and January 2026. This move aims to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability during the festive season and into the New Year.

According to Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, the refinery will make available 50 million litres of PMS daily starting December 1. Dangote stated that the facility currently has adequate stock and is producing between 40 and 45 million litres of PMS daily. The daily supply of 50 million litres is expected to dispel claims that domestic refineries lack the capacity to meet national demand.

The refinery is also engaging with petroleum marketers to strengthen distribution systems, including expanding the use of CNG-powered haulage. Dangote emphasized that the priority is to ensure Nigeria receives the products it needs, driven by a commitment to guaranteeing the availability of essential energy products, rather than profit motives.

The refinery is progressing with its expansion plan to reach a capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day, with over 100,000 workers expected to be involved in the expansion of both the refinery and the fertiliser complex. Dangote highlighted the company’s commitment to its vision, driven by strong public support for the company’s role in shaping Nigeria’s economic development.

During a visit by the South-South Development Commission (SSDC) to the refinery and the Dangote Fertiliser complex, the Managing Director of SSDC, Usoro Offiong Akpabio, commended Dangote’s leadership and his continued contribution to strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capability, national energy security, and long-term economic competitiveness. Akpabio described the South-South region as Nigeria’s natural energy corridor, with vast crude oil reserves, gas infrastructure, maritime assets, agro-industrial activity, and emerging industrial clusters.

The SSDC expressed its readiness to support state-level policy and regulatory support for ease-of-doing-business across the six states in the region, enabling environments for the Dangote Group’s expansion into strategic sectors. The refinery has reaffirmed its readiness to host NMDPRA officials onsite to verify and publish its daily supply volumes, seeking the Authority’s support to ensure unhindered importation of crude, feedstocks, and blending components, as well as smooth vessel loading for product evacuation.

The development is expected to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s energy sector, ensuring a steady supply of fuel during the festive season and beyond. With the refinery’s expansion plans and commitment to transparency, the company is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s economic development and energy security.
