Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will supply 50 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) daily to the Nigerian market, amounting to 1.5 billion litres in December 2025 and January 2026. The initiative is intended to guarantee uninterrupted fuel availability throughout the festive season and into the New Year. Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, said the refinery will begin delivering 50 million litres of PMS each day starting 1 December. He added that the plant already has sufficient stock and is currently producing between 40 million and 45 million litres of PMS daily. This daily supply is meant to counter claims that domestic refineries lack the capacity to meet national demand.
The refinery is also working with petroleum marketers to strengthen distribution systems, including expanding the use of CNG‑powered haulage. Dangote emphasized that the priority is to ensure Nigeria receives the essential energy products it needs, driven by a commitment to availability rather than profit motives. The facility is advancing its expansion plan to reach a capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day, with more than 100 000 workers expected to be involved in expanding both the refinery and the fertilizer complex. Dangote highlighted the company’s dedication to its vision, noting strong public support for its role in Nigeria’s economic development.
During a visit by the South‑South Development Commission (SSDC) to the refinery and the Dangote Fertiliser complex, SSDC Managing Director Usoro Offiong Akpabio praised Dangote’s leadership and his continued contribution to strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capability, national energy security, and long‑term economic competitiveness. Akpabio described the South‑South region as Nigeria’s natural energy corridor, rich in crude oil reserves, gas infrastructure, maritime assets, agro‑industrial activity, and emerging industrial clusters. The SSDC expressed its readiness to provide state‑level policy and regulatory support to facilitate ease of doing business across the six states in the region, creating an enabling environment for the Dangote Group’s expansion into strategic sectors.
The refinery has reaffirmed its willingness to host NMDPRA officials onsite to verify and publish its daily supply volumes, seeking the Authority’s assistance to ensure unhindered importation of crude, feedstocks, and blending components, as well as smooth vessel loading for product evacuation. This development is expected to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s energy sector, ensuring a steady fuel supply during the festive season and beyond. With its expansion plans and commitment to transparency, the company is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the country’s economic development and energy security.
