Eze Blasts Kalu Over Banditry Allegations

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, has criticized Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for suggesting that politicians are responsible for the recent surge in banditry across Nigeria. Eze described Kalu’s allegation as “disgraceful and unsubstantiated,” saying it showcases “sycophancy, eye service, and betrayal” common among some politicians.

Eze questioned how a reasonable person could assume that opposition politicians are sponsoring bandits to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Instead, he urged Kalu to confront Tinubu about the country’s insecurity, stating that the president needs “visionary, truthful, and proactive friends” rather than politicians who speak from both sides of their mouths to curry favor.

Kalu had previously asserted in an interview that the pattern of attacks suggests a political agenda rather than random criminal activity. Eze countered that the insecurity in Nigeria is not a calculated attempt to destabilize the administration, but rather an indicator of President Tinubu’s failure to protect Nigerians.

Eze also addressed Adams Oshiomhole, who shares similar views with Kalu, saying that the blood of innocent Nigerians slaughtered due to the administration’s inability to address insecurity has attracted global attention. He challenged Kalu and Oshiomhole to name the sponsors of insecurity in Nigeria, stating that their failure to do so is an act of cowardice and implies they may be privy to the situation.

The criticism comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges, including kidnapping, killings, and destruction of property. The Federal Government has expended significant funds to combat insecurity, but the situation remains unresolved. Eze’s statements underscore the need for the administration to address the root causes of insecurity rather than apportioning blame. As the country navigates this challenging period, the government’s ability to provide effective solutions will be crucial in restoring stability and protecting Nigerian lives.
