Zamfara Lawmakers Defect to PDP from APC

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed the defection of two members of the State House of Assembly from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Hon. Sulaiman Hassan Bosko, representing Mafara I Constituency, and Hon. Nura Dahiru, representing Birnin Magaji Constituency, have joined the PDP. This development was announced in a statement by the party’s publicity secretary, Halliru Andi.

According to the PDP, the lawmakers’ decision to defect is a reflection of the internal challenges and leadership issues currently affecting the APC in Zamfara. The party stated that the two lawmakers were attracted to the PDP due to its stability, progressive ideals, and effective leadership. The PDP also cited the leadership style of Governor Dauda Lawal as a motivating factor, highlighting his efforts in enhancing security, infrastructure, transparency, and overall governance in the state.

The PDP has welcomed the two lawmakers, stating that their decision strengthens the party and boosts public confidence in its ability to deliver good governance. The party assured the new members of full integration and cooperation, emphasizing its commitment to working together for the betterment of Zamfara State. The defection is seen as a significant development in the state’s political landscape, with potential implications for the balance of power in the State House of Assembly.

The PDP’s gain is a notable setback for the APC, which has been facing internal divisions and challenges in recent times. The defection of the two lawmakers may indicate a shift in the political tide in Zamfara State, with the PDP poised to capitalize on the APC’s weaknesses. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the PDP’s ability to consolidate its gains and maintain momentum will be crucial in determining the outcome of future elections in the state.

The development is also a testament to the dynamic nature of Nigerian politics, where alliances and affiliations can shift rapidly. As the country approaches future elections, the defection of the two lawmakers serves as a reminder of the importance of effective leadership, governance, and party unity in determining the fate of political parties. With the PDP and APC vying for dominance in Zamfara State, the coming months are likely to be marked by intense political activity and maneuvering.
