Nigeria’s FirstPower Electricity Distribution Limited has announced a scheduled power outage in Anambra State on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The outage will enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to install a new 60 MVA transformer and reconfigure the outgoing feeders at the Onitsha Transmission Station.
The affected feeders include Army Barracks, Awada, Obosi, Umunya, Juddy Bolema, Nnewi Oba, Nnewi Industrial, Ossomala, 3‑3, Niccus, Ogidi, as well as the Nwaziki 11 kV and Woliwo 11 kV feeders. During the specified period, bulk electricity supply to these areas will be temporarily disrupted.
FirstPower explains that the planned outage is necessary to upgrade and maintain the transmission infrastructure. The new transformer and feeder reconfiguration are expected to improve the efficiency and reliability of power supply for households, businesses, and industries in the affected zones.
TCN, which transmits bulk electricity from generation stations to distribution companies like FirstPower, plays a crucial role in Nigeria’s electricity sector. Its infrastructure upgrades are essential for delivering a stable and efficient power supply that meets growing demand.
FirstPower has informed its customers about the scheduled outage and advises them to make necessary arrangements to minimize inconvenience. The announcement reflects the company’s commitment to transparency and keeping customers updated on any disruptions to the power supply. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are urged to plan accordingly for the outage on Sunday.
