Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has launched its Southern Swamp Associated Gas Solutions (SSAGS) Project in Delta State, Nigeria, marking a significant step towards ending routine flaring in its Tunu Node operations and promoting industrialization. The project is expected to inject approximately 100 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMScf/d) into the domestic market, equivalent to about 820 million barrels of oil.

The SSAGS project will provide a substantial boost to Nigeria’s energy sector, with the potential to power around 6,700 households for a year. The project is also expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs across various phases of the gas supply chain, contributing to the country’s economic growth. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Renaissance, Tony Attah, described the inauguration as a milestone in the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions and advancing associated gas utilization.

The project, located in oil mining leases 35 and 46 fields, will establish essential infrastructure for future development of discovered and undiscovered potential within the node. Attah emphasized that the project is a symbol of innovation, resilience, and collaboration, demonstrating the company’s vision to ensure energy security and industrialization in Nigeria. Over 90% of the work was done in-country, leading to the upskilling of Nigerian expertise and community content development.

The SSAGS project will route all production into four flow stations in Tunu, Ogbotobo, Benisede, and Opukushi, and evacuate oil via the Trans Ramos Pipeline to the Forcados Export Terminal. This will provide Nigeria with a significant success story in its commitment to ending flaring in oil and gas operations. The project is expected to sustain the domestic gas network with over 30% contribution, creating huge value to Nigeria and Renaissance’s domestic gas aspiration.

Since its inception, the SSAGS project has successfully exported a cumulative volume of approximately 158 billion scf gas to both the domestic network and NLNG, with about 98 billion scf supplied to the domestic gas network and 60.1 billion scf to the Nigeria LNG, Bonny. The project’s host communities have commended its success, applauding the employment opportunities it provides for local residents. The Amanana-Owei of Egbemo-Anagalabiri domain, King Jacob Isreal Monday Ogbolo, praised the project’s impact, stating that it has created a peaceful working environment for indigenes and non-indigenes alike.

The SSAGS project reinforces Renaissance’s commitment to its Nigeria content development goal and demonstrates the company’s dedication to delivering sustainable energy solutions. As the project continues to contribute to Nigeria’s energy sector, it is expected to play a significant role in promoting the country’s industrialization and economic growth.
