Paul Feig’s upcoming psychological thriller, *The Housemaid*, is slated for release on December 19, 2025. The film adapts Freida McFadden’s 2022 novel of the same name, with McFadden serving as an executive producer. Sydney Sweeney stars as Millie Calloway, a young woman who becomes a live‑in maid for the affluent Winchester family, joined by Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone.

Production began in October 2024 after Lionsgate announced the project and confirmed Feig as director. Sweeney and Seyfried were attached early on as lead actresses and executive producers, while Sklenar and Morrone joined the cast later. Theodore Shapiro, a frequent Feig collaborator, composed the score, and the final runtime is set at 131 minutes.

The movie was filmed across numerous New Jersey locations, including Morristown, Montclair, Madison, Ridgewood, Cresskill and Clifton. Specific sites featured the campuses of Saint Elizabeth University and The Peck School, The Madison Hotel, Lackawanna Station, DanceWorks Studios, and Rosedale Cemetery. A historic mansion built in 1909 in Madison served as the primary setting for the Winchester family home.

McFadden’s novel follows Millie Calloway, a troubled young woman who uncovers dark secrets about the Winchester family and their house, placing her in grave danger. The story is known for a sudden, shocking twist that flips the narrative, revealing the true victim and villain. Anticipation for *The Housemaid* is high among fans of the book and the thriller genre, who expect a gripping, unsettling cinematic experience as the release date approaches.
