Wike urged to focus on FCT ministerial duties

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been urged to focus on his ministerial duties and refrain from interfering in the affairs of Rivers State. This call was made by Jake Epelle, the Founder of TAF Africa, during an interview on Channels Television’s programme, The Morning Brief.

Epelle’s comments come amidst the ongoing political tension in Rivers State, where Wike has been a dominant figure. According to Epelle, the concept of “godfatherism” has no place in democracy, and Wike should not attempt to exert control over the state’s politics. “There is no godfatherism in democracy,” Epelle stated. “Wike is not the godfather of politics in Rivers State. He should focus on his ministerial position and leave Rivers State and its people alone.”

Epelle emphasized that the people of Rivers State will not be intimidated or controlled by any individual, including Wike. He predicted that a movement of peaceful and resilient individuals would emerge to challenge Wike’s influence and promote democratic values. “There is going to be a rising of people of peace, who are resolute, who are resilient, that will stand up and keep speaking truth to power,” Epelle said.

As the political situation in Rivers State continues to unfold, Epelle’s comments highlight the need for Wike to prioritize his duties as FCT Minister and respect the autonomy of the state. With the eyes of the nation on Rivers State, it remains to be seen how the situation will develop and whether Wike will heed Epelle’s call to focus on his ministerial responsibilities. The people of Rivers State are watching with bated breath, awaiting a resolution to the ongoing political tensions and a return to stability in the state.
