The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State’s Jama’are Local Government Area has expelled Hon. Haruna Muhammad Jungudo, a former House of Representatives candidate, for alleged anti‑party activities. The decision followed an emergency meeting of Jama’are A Ward leaders on 8 December 2025, during which petitions and complaints against Jungudo were examined. A communiqué issued after the meeting said that a thorough investigation found the allegations credible. The party listed several offenses: failure to attend PDP meetings and activities since the 2023 general election, verbal attacks on party members and leaders, open confrontation with the PDP‑led Bauchi State government, and collusion with expelled members to hijack the state’s PDP leadership structure without recognition from legitimate party organs. The ward executives resolved to expel Jungudo with immediate effect, citing gross misconduct, disloyalty and anti‑party behavior in violation of the PDP constitution.
However, Bauchi PDP Caretaker Committee Secretary Alhaji Safiyanu Zubairu dismissed the expulsion, noting that Jungudo had already been appointed Chairman of the Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee following a National Executive Committee (NEC) resolution. Zubairu argued that the ward leadership lacked legitimacy and questioned whether it had complied with the PDP Constitution, claiming that all decisions made by the dissolved Bauchi State PDP exco—from state to ward level—were null and void. He described the ward leaders’ actions as politically motivated, urged party members to remain calm, and promised that the caretaker committee would soon address the public on developments within the party.
Jungudo’s expulsion occurs amid internal conflicts within the Bauchi State PDP, where factions have emerged since the 2023 general election. The party’s national leadership dissolved the state executive committee and expelled Governor Bala Mohammed on 18 November 2025. The episode highlights an ongoing power struggle within the PDP in Bauchi State, as different factions vie for control. As the party navigates these challenges, members and the public await further clarification on the way forward.
