Benue Governor Nominates Jerry Ashwe for BSIEC Member

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has nominated Jerry Jiminbee Ashwe to serve as a member of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC). This development was announced in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula. Ashwe, a native of Gwer-West Local Government Area, has been nominated to represent the Ichongo-Tiev constituency, which comprises Lobi and Gwer, on the commission.

The nomination is aimed at filling the vacancy left by the late Hon. Aikieghe Deva, who previously represented the area. Ashwe’s appointment has been forwarded to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

Ashwe holds a Master of Public Administration degree and has a background in administration. He is currently employed as an Administration and Personnel Manager at the New Nigeria Timber Company (NNTC). Prior to this role, he worked with the Benue State Teaching Service Board as a Personnel Assistant.

The nomination of Ashwe to the BSIEC is a significant development in the state’s electoral process. The BSIEC is responsible for conducting local government elections in Benue State, and Ashwe’s experience in administration is expected to bring value to the commission.

The Benue State House of Assembly will review Ashwe’s nomination and confirm his appointment in due course. The confirmation process is a crucial step in ensuring that the BSIEC has the necessary personnel to carry out its duties effectively. With Ashwe’s nomination, the commission is one step closer to being fully constituted, enabling it to perform its functions without any hiccups.

As the electoral process in Benue State continues to evolve, the role of the BSIEC remains critical. The commission’s ability to conduct free and fair elections is essential for the democratic development of the state. Ashwe’s nomination and potential confirmation will contribute to the commission’s ability to achieve this goal. The next step in the process will be the screening and confirmation of Ashwe’s appointment by the Benue State House of Assembly.
