A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, expressed confidence that the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, will win the governorship election scheduled for August 8, 2026. Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye attributed Oyebamiji’s emergence to the APC’s growth and its members’ strong character. He noted that the candidate was selected through a consensus arrangement, which he said demonstrates the party’s ability to work together toward a common goal.
Oyintiloye praised the APC leadership, members, and the aspirants who stepped down, allowing for a seamless primary process. He observed that the party’s anticipated victory would enable the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in Osun State. Recalling earlier predictions of an implosion within the party due to the large number of aspirants, Oyintiloye credited the intervention of party leaders—including President Tinubu, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Chief Bisi Akande—for ensuring a successful primary.
He urged the APC leadership in Osun State to strengthen the party further to guarantee a smooth victory in the governorship poll. Oyintiloye assured that, if elected, Oyebamiji would lead a people‑friendly government that implements programs and policies to positively impact residents’ lives. He also called on party members to unite and redouble their efforts to return the APC to power in the state.
The APC’s primary election in Osun State has set the stage for the upcoming governorship poll. With Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate, the focus now shifts to the main election. Oyintiloye’s comments underscore the importance of unity and hard work within the party to achieve victory, emphasizing that the APC’s ability to cooperate and present a strong candidate will be crucial as the election approaches.
