Najeem Folasayo Salaam has emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for the Osun State 2026 governorship election. The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly was the sole aspirant in the party’s primary election, which took place on Monday.

According to the Chairman of the Osun ADC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, a total of 535 delegates participated in the election, comprising 482 from local government areas and wards, and 53 special delegates. Out of the 528 accredited delegates, 520 votes were valid, with eight votes declared invalid. Salaam secured all 520 valid votes, paving the way for his emergence as the party’s flagbearer.

The election committee chairman announced the result, stating that by the powers conferred on the panel by the ADC constitution, Najeem Folasayo Salaam is now the candidate-elect and flagbearer of the party for the Osun 2026 governorship election. This development marks a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape as the 2026 governorship election draws near.

As a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Salaam brings a wealth of experience to the table.
