Tinubu Pledges To Sustain Buhari Legacy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to sustain the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari, emphasizing the importance of discipline, leadership, and integrity. At the unveiling of a book titled “From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari” in Abuja, Tinubu noted that the best way to honor Buhari is to keep his legacies alive.

The book, written by Dr. Charles Omole, chronicles Buhari’s life and provides an opportunity for Nigerians to learn from his experiences and leadership. Tinubu described Buhari as a brother, friend, and political partner, recalling their collaborative efforts in building a strong political coalition that transformed Nigeria’s political landscape.

Tinubu reflected on the coalition’s historic victory in 2015, which saw the defeat of an incumbent president and the emergence of the party as the fastest-growing political party in Africa. He emphasized the importance of working across differences, stating that nation-building requires passionate competition and responsible governance.

The president praised Dr. Omole for producing the 600-page biography, which has been commended by several former service chiefs and security heads who served under Buhari. They testified to Buhari’s discipline and integrity, with the NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, describing him as “a man of honour, a man of character, a man of integrity and a man of principle.”

The event was attended by President Adama Barrow of The Gambia, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, and several state governors, among others. Hadiza Nana Buhari, representing the Buhari family, thanked President Tinubu for his support and urged Nigerians to learn from her father’s legacy of patience and integrity.

The occasion highlighted the significance of Buhari’s legacy and the importance of sustaining his achievements. As President Tinubu embarks on his own administration, his commitment to upholding Buhari’s principles is seen as a crucial step in building on the foundations laid by his predecessor. With the launch of the book, Nigerians are reminded of the importance of leadership, discipline, and integrity in shaping the country’s future.
