PRP Conducts Ward, LG Congresses in Lagos Ahead of 2027 Election

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) held its Ward and Local Government Congresses in Lagos State on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the party’s reorganisation process ahead of the 2027 elections. The congresses, which were monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), took place in Ikorodu and resulted in the emergence of new ward and local government executives.

According to Mr Wolimoh Olajide, the PRP National Youth Leader and Chairman of the Congresses, the exercise was conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, reflecting the core values of the party. Olajide commended the delegates for their conduct, noting that the process was democratic and consensus-driven. The new executives, who were chosen through a consensus-building process, are expected to play a crucial role in promoting the party’s ideals at the grassroots level.

Olajide urged the newly elected executives to work diligently to promote the PRP and its values to the people of Lagos State, expressing confidence that the party’s future is bright with the new leadership in place. He also emphasized that the momentum generated from the congresses would strengthen the party’s efforts to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 elections, both at the state and federal levels.

The PRP is positioning itself as a credible alternative to the ruling party, with Olajide stating that Lagos residents and Nigerians are yearning for a change. The party’s reorganisation process is aimed at strengthening its structures and preparing it for the upcoming elections. With the successful conduct of the Ward and Local Government Congresses, the PRP has taken a significant step towards achieving its goals.

The outcome of the congresses is expected to have a positive impact on the party’s fortunes in Lagos State, and the new executives will be responsible for implementing the party’s strategies and policies at the local level. As the party looks ahead to the 2027 elections, it remains to be seen how the PRP’s reorganisation efforts will translate into electoral success. Nevertheless, the party’s commitment to democratic principles and its focus on grassroots engagement are likely to resonate with voters seeking a credible alternative to the ruling party.
