The Action Alliance, a Nigerian political party, has finally resolved its long‑standing leadership dispute. Following a Federal High Court ruling, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially recognized Adekunle Rufai Omoaje as the party’s national chairman. The court, presided over by Justice Funmilola Demi‑Ajayi, ordered INEC to update its records within seven days, confirming that the National Executive Committee (NEC) elected at the party’s national convention in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in October 2023, is the legitimate leadership.

In compliance with the ruling, INEC removed Kenneth Udeze’s name from its records and replaced it with Omoaje’s, also revising its website to list all NEC members from the Abeokuta convention. This action ends a contentious internal power struggle in which two factions claimed the party’s leadership.

The recognition of Omoaje as national chairman is expected to strengthen the Action Alliance’s position ahead of upcoming elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and other states. Omoaje thanked INEC Chairman Prof. Josh Amupitan for upholding the rule of law, noting that the decision will further bolster democracy in Nigeria. The party has reaffirmed its commitment to democracy, peace, progress, and development across the country.

With the court’s endorsement and INEC’s acknowledgment, the Action Alliance can now focus on its agenda for the forthcoming elections. The resolution of the leadership dispute is a positive development for Nigerian politics, allowing the party to move forward with clear, recognized leadership and to participate fully in the democratic process.
