Fubara Visits APC National Headquarters

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who recently defected from his former party, visited the national headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday. The governor’s visit to the APC secretariat, which took place around 6:50 p.m., marked a significant development in his political career.

Upon arrival, Fubara was received by key party officials, including APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, National Welfare Secretary Hon. Donatus Nwapa, and Deputy National Organising Secretary Nze Chidi Duru. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, was also present to welcome the governor. Fubara, dressed in a white kaftan and red cap, explained that he had initially been expected to attend the Progressive Governors’ meeting but chose to prioritize a visit to the party headquarters.

The governor was subsequently ushered into the National Secretary’s office, where he engaged in a closed-door meeting with party officials. This meeting is likely to have focused on discussions regarding Fubara’s defection and his future role within the APC. As a newly defected member, Fubara’s visit to the party headquarters is seen as a crucial step in solidifying his position within the party.

Fubara’s decision to join the APC has significant implications for the political landscape in Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole. The APC, one of the major political parties in the country, has been working to expand its membership and influence ahead of future elections. The governor’s defection is likely to be seen as a major gain for the party, and his visit to the national headquarters is an important step in integrating him into the party’s structure.

As Fubara settles into his new role within the APC, it is expected that he will play an active part in the party’s activities and contribute to its growth and development. The party’s leadership will likely work closely with the governor to ensure a smooth transition and to leverage his experience and influence to advance the party’s interests. With Fubara’s defection, the APC is poised to strengthen its presence in Rivers State and enhance its prospects in future elections.
