Huawei Launches Inclusive Energy Initiative in Africa

Huawei Concludes Inclusive Energy Summit in Egypt, Launches Initiative for Renewable-Led Power System

The Huawei Northern Africa Inclusive Energy Summit 2025 has come to a close in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, bringing together over 300 government representatives, industry customers, and ecosystem partners from around the world. The two-day event focused on empowering energy sovereignty, low-carbon growth, and win-win outcomes through smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems (ESS).

Huawei, leveraging its long-term research and development expertise, is working with industry partners to build a new power system centered on renewables. The company’s Smart Grid, Cloud & AI, Communication Network, and Security solutions aim to improve energy efficiency, promote renewable utilization, and ensure grid stability and energy security.

A key highlight of the summit was the launch of Huawei’s All-Scenario Grid-forming Initiative for Africa. As wind and solar capacity expands across the region, power systems face challenges in stability, reliability, and flexibility. The initiative leverages six core grid-forming capabilities to enable grids to integrate large shares of wind and solar while maintaining supply stability and quality.

Philippe Wang, President of Digital Power, Huawei Northern Africa, emphasized the importance of energy transformation in Africa. “Digital and intelligent transformation is advancing at remarkable speed, and countries are striving to secure reliable, affordable, and low-carbon energy for all,” he said. “Huawei is committed to working with governments, utilities, and partners to make renewables the mainstay of the power system and ensure that no community is left behind in the energy transformation.”

Throughout the summit, Huawei Digital Power emphasized its commitment to delivering high-quality products and solutions that can withstand harsh environments and maintain low failure rates and maintenance costs. The company’s focus on “high quality” is a responsibility that requires delivering solutions that provide optimized cost per kilowatt-hour throughout the full asset lifecycle.

The Huawei Northern Africa Inclusive Energy Summit reaffirmed its role as a leading platform for sharing benchmark strategies and accelerating the adoption of intelligent energy solutions to promote sustainable development and digital-intelligent transformation. Guided by the philosophy “Go Intelligent, Win Together. In Africa, For Africa,” Huawei Digital Power will continue to deliver high-quality solutions that address Africa’s energy challenges and support governments and industries in scaling solar, energy storage, and smart charging networks.
