APC Youths Reject Odimayo’s Re-election Bid in Ondo State

Rivers APC Defends Strategy Amid Calls for Wike to Join

Youths from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State have expressed their opposition to the re-election bid of Jimi Odimayo, the current lawmaker representing the Okitipupa-Irele Federal Constituency. In a statement released on Thursday, the group, led by Adewale Adefua, emphasized the need for a change in representation at the National Assembly.

According to the statement, the youths are backing Bidemi Obayangban, Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Forestry, as a potential replacement for Odimayo. Adefua noted that Obayangban has made positive contributions to their community, citing this as a key reason for their support. Ajibade Omogunoye, a youth leader in the area, also endorsed Obayangban, praising his humility and passion for the people.

The decision by the youths to reject Odimayo’s re-election bid comes as the political landscape in Ondo State continues to evolve. The APC, as the ruling party, has a significant presence in the state, and the Okitipupa-Irele Federal Constituency is a crucial seat. Odimayo, the incumbent lawmaker, is seeking re-election, but the youths’ rejection of his bid may indicate a shift in support among his constituents.

Obayangban, as a special assistant to the governor, has likely gained experience and insight into the needs of the community, which may have contributed to the youths’ decision to support him. The APC youths’ endorsement of Obayangban suggests that they are looking for a fresh perspective and new leadership to represent their interests at the National Assembly.

As the political process unfolds, it remains to be seen how Odimayo’s re-election bid will be impacted by the youths’ rejection. The APC will need to consider the concerns and aspirations of its constituents, including the youths, as it navigates the complexities of the electoral process. The outcome of this development will likely have significant implications for the representation of the Okitipupa-Irele Federal Constituency and the broader political landscape in Ondo State.
