Traditional rulers in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have voiced their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re‑election bid in 2027. The group, which includes the Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Dr Haruna C. Jibrin, the Esu Sa’Rubochi, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Pada, and the Etsu of Kwali, Luka Ayedo Nizassan, made their statements during a visit by members of the FCT Renewed Hope Ambassadors to their palaces.
The Esu Sa’Rubochi noted that the appointment of Hon. Adamu Abdullahi as Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors has had a positive impact on the area. Residents of satellite towns are now experiencing a tangible government presence for the first time in many years. He praised the federal government’s efforts, saying that the effects of good governance are evident “even to the blind.” The Esu Sa’Rubochi assured President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of his total support and pledged to mobilise his people to secure a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections.
In Kuje, the Gomo commended the significant improvement in road infrastructure, which has attracted businesses and new residents, turning the town into a growing economic centre. He attributed this development to President Tinubu’s administration, through the FCT Minister, as a clear example of effective governance. The monarch also pledged to mobilise his people for the Area Council elections and for the President’s re‑election campaign.
The Etsu of Kwali’s spokesperson, Hon. Illiya Nizazo, thanked the federal government for recognizing their son as a minister and for the infrastructure projects in Kwali that have boosted commercial activity. He assured President Tinubu of Kwali’s loyalty to the APC and encouraged the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to convey their message to every community in the FCT.
Hon. Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, highlighted several development projects carried out under President Tinubu’s administration in the FCT, describing Minister Wike as a results‑driven leader. The backing of traditional rulers in the FCT is significant, indicating satisfaction with the current administration’s performance and a willingness to support its re‑election bid. As the 2027 elections approach, the APC is likely to build on this momentum and consolidate its support base in the FCT and beyond.
