Air peace flight aborts take-off in Abuja after engine failure

Air Peace Limited announced on Friday via a statement on X that it will resume daily return flights between Abuja and Ibadan starting December 24, 2025. The decision follows the reopening of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State, after its closure in February 2025 for maintenance and upgrades. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority had previously approved the restart of flight operations at the airport, paving the way for Air Peace’s announcement.

Fares on the revived route will begin at ₦95,000, offering travelers in Ibadan and surrounding areas a convenient and affordable connection to the nation’s capital. The timing is significant, as the service will be available during the festive season, providing enhanced travel options for those planning to visit Abuja.

The resumption of flights is expected to boost travel and economic activity in the region. Stakeholders have welcomed the move, viewing it as a major step toward improving air‑travel connectivity. With the airport’s reopening, passengers can now look forward to easier access to Abuja, facilitating the movement of people and goods between the two cities and relieving travelers who have relied on alternative transportation since the airport’s closure.
