Professor Abdulganiy Olayinka Raji, a former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun, Ekiti, and Ogun states, has passed away. According to reports, Raji, a native of Ogbomoso in Oyo State, died on Friday at his residence.
Raji was a Professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering at the University of Ibadan, where he had a distinguished academic career. His tenure as REC in the three states was marked by his commitment to free and fair elections. The deceased had served in this capacity at different times, bringing his expertise to the electoral process.
The funeral rites for Professor Raji were conducted in accordance with Islamic tradition. The Janazah prayer was held at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque, led by the Chief Imam, Dr. Teliat Yunus Ayilara, at 11:05 am. The prayer was attended by family, friends, and colleagues who gathered to pay their respects to the deceased.
Following the prayer, the body was laid to rest at the Muslim Cemetery, Okin-Apa, at approximately 12:10 pm. The interment was coordinated by Professor Ibrahim Olatunde Uthman, the Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan. The burial was a solemn occasion, with mourners in attendance to bid farewell to the respected academic and public servant.
