NAF graduates 1,296 recruits to strengthen national assignment

The Nigerian Air Force graduated 1,296 recruits at the Passing Out Parade of Basic Military Training Course 45/2025, marking their transition from civilian life to trained airmen and airwomen. The ceremony, held on 20 December 2025, was reviewed by Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who called it a significant milestone for both the graduates and the service.

The six‑month training program was designed to equip the recruits with the skills and discipline needed to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Air Force. Air Marshal Aneke emphasized that the graduation reflects the service’s commitment to building capable manpower in support of ongoing counter‑insurgency and counter‑terrorism operations nationwide. He highlighted the Military Training Centre, where the training took place, as crucial in shaping disciplined, professional, and mission‑ready personnel.

The Chief of the Air Staff commended the Commandant, instructors, and staff for maintaining high standards throughout the course, noting that this is a critical driver of the Command Philosophy—an enabler of standardized training and mission‑focused capability development. He also praised Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command Air Vice Marshal Shinkafi for his oversight of the institution.

Addressing the graduating recruits, Air Marshal Aneke reminded them that their transformation from civilians to members of the Armed Forces was achieved through a structured and rigorous program. He expressed appreciation to their families and loved ones for their support and charged the new airmen and airwomen to consistently uphold discipline, teamwork, and duty throughout their careers.

The graduates are joining the service at a time of complex security challenges, including terrorism, banditry, and other asymmetric threats. The Nigerian Air Force’s ability to counter these threats depends on the quality, discipline, and professionalism of its personnel. With the graduation of these 1,296 recruits, the service has taken a significant step toward enhancing its operational effectiveness and contributing to national security objectives. This ceremony marks a key milestone in the development of the Nigerian Air Force’s capabilities and its commitment to building a highly motivated, professional, and mission‑ready force. As the service continues to face complex security challenges, the role of its personnel in delivering decisive airpower in synergy with surface forces will be crucial to achieving national security goals.
