The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, a prominent Igbo socio‑cultural organization, has pledged its support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration through 2031. In a recent statement, the group praised Minister of Works Engr. David Umahi for overseeing the temporary opening of the Lagos‑Calabar coastal highway, a milestone that eases travel during the festive season and benefits millions of commuters, especially those in Lagos. The organization highlighted that Umahi’s tenure has positively impacted all six geopolitical zones, reinforcing public confidence in Tinubu’s government.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo also commended President Tinubu for appointing an Igbo minister of works—the first such appointment in 74 years. The group noted that the Southeast region stands united behind Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election campaign, with the five Southeast governors, five Igbo ministers, and the broader populace offering their support. This unity, the organization argued, stems from the administration’s commitment to addressing the region’s infrastructure deficits, including a ₦1.5 trillion investment in road projects.
The organization urged the federal government to create a level playing field for local contractors, allowing them to compete fairly with foreign firms. It also praised recent efforts to improve transparency, citing the involvement of anti‑graft agencies and stricter enforcement of accountability in contractual agreements. Finally, Ohanaeze Ndigbo called for the rapid completion of all major projects in the Southeast ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing the growing regional support for President Tinubu’s administration and its focus on infrastructure development.
