Justice Minister Launches Digital Platform for Efficient Service Delivery

Tinubu committed to efficient, accountable justice sector – AGF Fagbemi

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, has reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the justice sector. This transformation aims to deliver timely outcomes to Nigerians through a more efficient system. Fagbemi made this statement at the launch of the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) by the Federal Ministry of Justice in Abuja.

The ECMS is a digital platform designed to enable the ministry to create, process, approve, store, and retrieve official documents electronically. This system marks a significant shift from the traditional manual and unstructured information management approach. The launch event was attended by notable figures, including the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Beatrice Jeddy-Agba.

According to Fagbemi, the adoption of the ECMS is part of the ministry’s digital transformation strategy, which aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25) and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President. This initiative aims to make justice institutions more efficient, accountable, and digitally enabled, ultimately delivering timely outcomes to Nigerians.

The ECMS is expected to strengthen institutional memory, improve decision-making, secure records, and enforce discipline in workflow and accountability. Fagbemi emphasized that the goal is to build a modern, efficient, and citizen-driven justice sector. The ministry has also prioritized staff welfare and workplace modernization to create an environment conducive to excellence.

In her welcome address, Jeddy-Agba noted that the ministry has made significant progress in digitizing its operations, with 6,241 physical files comprising 331,297 pages uploaded onto the 1Gov Enterprise Content Management System in just eight weeks. The ministry has also achieved 100% official email coverage for all staff and conducted training sessions on digital skills and ECM.

The launch of the ECMS marks a significant milestone in the ministry’s efforts to modernize its operations and improve service delivery. By adopting a paperless culture, the ministry aims to prioritize efficiency and transparency, ultimately benefiting Nigerians. The successful implementation of the ECMS is expected to have a positive impact on the justice sector, paving the way for a more efficient and effective system.
