Dangote to Nigerians: Don’t Pay More Than N739 for Petrol

Dangote Refinery has called on Nigerians to report any MRS filling station outlets nationwide that are selling fuel above the announced price of N739 per liter. In a statement released on Sunday, the company emphasized that the retail price of its petrol remains at N739 per liter, while the gantry price is N699. This move is aimed at ensuring that Nigerians benefit from the reduced fuel price.

The refinery’s management urged other filling station owners to purchase its refined petroleum products at the N699 rate, which would enable them to pass on the benefits of the price reduction to consumers. This, in turn, would contribute to a more stable downstream market and provide broad-based relief to Nigerians. Aliko Dangote, the president of Dangote Refinery, had earlier set the maximum retail price of his petrol at N740.

Recently, some filling stations, including MRS, reduced their fuel prices to between N739 and N912 per liter in Abuja. However, there have been reports that some MRS filling stations are selling fuel above the announced price benchmark of N739 per liter. Dangote Refinery’s statement serves as a reminder to these stations to adhere to the set price and encourages Nigerians to report any instances of non-compliance.

The development is significant, as it reflects the company’s efforts to ensure that its fuel price reduction benefits consumers across the country. By calling on other filling station owners to patronize its products, Dangote Refinery aims to promote a more competitive and stable fuel market. As the company continues to work towards achieving this goal, Nigerians are advised to remain vigilant and report any instances of fuel being sold above the announced price. This collaborative effort is expected to contribute to a more stable and affordable fuel market in Nigeria.
