Prof. Christopher Imumolen, a former presidential aspirant of the Accord Party, disclosed that the party was already grappling with an internal crisis before Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State joined it. He made the revelation during an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief,” where he discussed the ongoing political issues within the party.
Imumolen explained that he has been addressing these internal problems for some time, even taking the matter to court. According to him, the party’s secretariat has been a focal point of conflict, with members fighting to resolve their differences. Although the party chose not to publicise these struggles, Imumolen has spoken about them in various interviews and publications.
He emphasized that the internal conflicts predate Governor Adeleke’s defection and that current efforts aim to protect the party’s reputation and ensure its stability. The Accord Party is taking steps to maintain its integrity, irrespective of Adeleke’s involvement.
The party’s internal wranglings have raised concerns about its future, and Imumolen’s comments shed light on the challenges it faces and the attempts to resolve them. As the Accord Party navigates these difficulties, the outcome will influence its trajectory. This internal crisis is not unique; many Nigerian political parties encounter similar issues. The ability of the Accord Party’s leadership to address its internal problems and sustain stability will be crucial for its success in upcoming elections, making the coming days pivotal for its future direction.
