A security alert has been issued by Judd Saul, Executive Director of Equipping the Persecuted, a US‑based humanitarian organization, warning of a potential attack by Fulani bandits on communities in Plateau State, Nigeria. The alert, posted on his verified social media account, specifies that the bandits plan to strike on Saturday, December 27, at midnight, targeting areas such as Kara‑Bisichi, Rassa, and Mararaban Foron in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, as well as Latyi of Du District and Kuru in Jos South LGA. Saul’s organization supports persecuted Christians in Nigeria, and he noted that the bandits had originally scheduled simultaneous attacks for Friday, December 26, but postponed them to the following day. He emphasized that residents of these communities and surrounding areas should remain on high alert, especially at midnight, due to the planned massive assault by Fulani bandits and terrorists.
This is not the first time Saul has raised concerns about potential attacks in Plateau State. On December 14, he warned of planned Christmas‑Day attacks in several communities, including Riyom, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi local government areas. His warnings were reportedly dismissed by Nigerian authorities and security agencies, which accused him of being a liar and an alarmist. Saul’s organization has been monitoring the situation in Plateau State, where attacks by Fulani bandits and terrorists have become a recurring concern. The region has experienced a surge in violence in recent years, affecting many communities.
The Nigerian government has been working to address the issue, but the situation remains volatile. The latest security alert highlights the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between communities and security agencies to prevent such attacks. As events unfold, it is essential for authorities to take proactive measures to protect vulnerable populations and curb further violence. The international community is also being urged to take notice of the situation in Plateau State and provide support to those affected by the ongoing violence.
