Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Osun 2026 governorship election, has expressed confidence in his candidacy, stating that he does not have a competitor in the upcoming poll. Oyebamiji made this assertion during the Ansar-Ud-Deen annual prayer in Ikire, where he addressed party members and supporters. He emphasized that the APC is united behind his ambition and believes that he will become the governor of Osun State by the special grace of God.
Oyebamiji’s confidence is rooted in the support he expects from his local government area, which he hinted would play a decisive role in the election. He also noted that the next governor of Osun State would emerge from the Osun West Senatorial District, a description he believes fits him. As a former Osun State commissioner for finance and Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Oyebamiji is optimistic about his chances of winning the governorship election.
The APC candidate has stated that he will focus on his campaign and avoid engaging in political attacks, preferring to concentrate on the task at hand. This approach is in line with the party’s resolve to close ranks and work collectively for his candidacy, as agreed upon during a recent stakeholders’ meeting convened by APC stalwart, Chief Bisi Akande. The meeting aimed to strengthen the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a sermon, the Chief Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen, Ikire land, Badmus Monsuru Adekunle, described Oyebamiji’s endorsement as APC candidate as a divine testimony and an indication of the goodwill he enjoys across the state. The chief missioner attributed the victory to the people of Osun State, particularly believers in progressive governance anchored on justice, equity, and development.
As the Osun 2026 governorship election approaches, Oyebamiji’s confidence and the APC’s unity will be crucial factors in determining the outcome of the poll. With the election scheduled to take place on August 8, 2026, Oyebamiji’s campaign will likely focus on showcasing his credentials and engaging with voters across the state. The outcome of the election will have significant implications for the people of Osun State and the APC’s performance in the region.
