Army Chief Orders Troops to Eliminate Bandits in Sokoto Region

Troops eliminate Boko Haram fighters, capture weapons in Sambisa offensive

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has instructed troops in the Sokoto region to intensify their efforts to eliminate bandits and terrorists. This directive was given during an operational visit to the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion in Illela, Sokoto State, where the COAS commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism in confronting criminal elements.

According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army, signed by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant General Shaibu praised the troops for their successes, which have contributed to improved security in the area. He emphasized the need for sustained momentum to completely defeat the terrorists, whose actions against Nigerians will no longer be tolerated.

The COAS also announced plans to enhance the welfare of the troops, including the construction of additional housing, medical facilities, and other necessary infrastructure at Illela Barracks. This move aims to boost morale and support the soldiers and their families. The visit and directive come as part of the ongoing efforts to address the security challenges in the region, where the military has been engaged in operations against bandits and terrorists.

The Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and the 8 Division Sokoto have been at the forefront of these operations, working to restore peace and stability in the area.
