The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to criticism from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over President Bola Tinubu’s recent trip to Europe. The APC argues that the ADC’s remarks reveal a misunderstanding of modern governance and the importance of international engagement.
Spokesman Mogaji Seye Oladejo explained that President Tinubu’s visit is aimed at advancing Nigeria’s economic interests, strengthening bilateral relations and attracting investment. He stressed that the president’s engagements align with the country’s economic recovery agenda, its drive for foreign direct investment and its infrastructure‑financing goals.
The APC accused the ADC of fixating on the president’s travel as a way to expose the opposition’s lack of ideas and concrete policies. Oladejo said the ADC has resorted to monitoring flight schedules and issuing press releases rooted in envy and ignorance, rather than offering credible alternatives to government policies.
The party also pointed out that many critics were silent or complicit during previous administrations’ foreign trips, which yielded little benefit for the nation. In contrast, President Tinubu’s international engagements are intended to reposition Nigeria and promote its economic interests.
Oladejo emphasized that Nigerians are not deceived by the ADC’s criticism; they can see the difference between a president working to reposition the nation and an opposition party trapped in distraction politics. As the year draws to a close, the APC urged the opposition to develop serious alternatives to government policies instead of relying on empty noise‑making and shallow theatrics.
Finally, the APC reiterated that President Tinubu remains firmly in charge and committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which includes bold domestic reforms and purposeful international engagement. The party stressed that the president’s efforts are aimed at benefiting Nigeria and its citizens, and that his overseas activities are a key part of this process.
