NNPP Urges Kano Governor Not to Defect to APC

The New Nigerian Peoples Party has urged Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State to remain with the party and not defect to the All Progressives Congress. This appeal was made by the party’s Kano State Chairman, Suleiman Dungurawa, during a press briefing on Monday. Dungurawa also addressed speculation about potential discord between the governor and the party’s national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, stating that such rumors are unfounded.

Dungurawa advised residents of Kano State to continue with their daily activities without concern, while cautioning party members against signing any documents circulated by individuals with malicious intentions. He emphasized the party’s unity and commitment to its principles, stating that defection to the APC would be contrary to the will of the people who voted for the NNPP.

The appeal comes amidst reports of potential defections within the Kano State government. Recently, the Director-General of the Protocol Directorate of Kano State Government House, Abdullahi Rogo, suggested that citizens and voters were in favor of Kwankwaso and Governor Yusuf joining the APC. However, Dungurawa’s statement clarifies the party’s stance, emphasizing that such a move would not be supported by the party’s leadership or its members.

The situation in Kano State is being closely watched, given the significance of the state in Nigerian politics. The NNPP’s position on the matter reflects the party’s commitment to its values and the trust placed in it by voters. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the decision of Governor Yusuf and other key figures will be crucial in shaping the future of the party and the state.

In his appeal, Dungurawa invoked the importance of loyalty and commitment to the party’s principles, urging Governor Yusuf to reconsider any plans to defect. The party’s leadership, including Senator Kwankwaso, has reaffirmed its dedication to the NNPP’s mission and values, emphasizing the need for unity and cohesion among its members. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the events will impact the political dynamics in Kano State and the broader Nigerian political scene.
