Bessem Agnes Okafor, the ex-wife of Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Grace Nation Bible Ministry, has spoken out about the reasons behind their divorce. This development comes after Pastor Okafor publicly accused her of adultery during a church service on December 28, 2025. In response, Bessem Okafor shared her side of the story in a Livestream interview on YouTube with Aunty Adunni.
According to Bessem, she ended their marriage 14 years ago due to Pastor Okafor’s alleged infidelity with church members’ wives. She claimed that he had multiple children with these women and advised church members to conduct DNA tests on their children to verify her allegations. Bessem stated that she was married to Pastor Okafor at the age of 18 and had four children with him. However, she left him because of the shame and disgrace he brought to their marriage and the church.
Bessem alleged that Pastor Okafor’s behavior changed after he gained wealth and influence, and he began to engage in extramarital affairs with various women, including choir members and deacons’ wives. She also claimed that he abused and assaulted her during their marriage. Bessem’s decision to speak out comes after Pastor Okafor publicly apologized to actress Doris Ogala, who had accused him of failing to fulfill a marriage promise.
Pastor Okafor’s apology was made after Doris Ogala rejected his settlement offer. In his public apology, Pastor Okafor claimed that he had caught Bessem with another man, which Bessem has denied. Instead, she accused Pastor Okafor of being unfaithful and sleeping with multiple women, including a house help and a deaconess named Anita Chioma. Bessem’s allegations have brought attention to the personal life of Pastor Okafor and the inner workings of his church. The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor’s personal life may have implications for his ministry and reputation.
