Tinubu’s commitment to Ogoni development evident in key projects - Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its development initiatives in Ogoniland, Rivers State. During a Christmas visit to the people of Khana Local Government Area, Wike acknowledged the president’s efforts to improve the region.

Wike’s visit was aimed at expressing gratitude to the people for their sustained support over the years. He highlighted the establishment of the Federal University of Environment and Technology, FUET, at Koroma, Saakpenwa, in Tai Local Government Area, as a significant development project. The university’s siting was a long-standing demand of the Ogoni people, who had agitated for its establishment for many years.

The minister also noted the construction of the road linking Ogoniland to Bonny Island, which is expected to enhance connectivity and economic opportunities in the region. Additionally, Wike referenced the president’s decision to honour and pardon the Ogoni four martyrs, describing it as a gesture of reconciliation.

Wike further stated that the Ogoni people have benefited from several federal appointments under the current administration. He assured them that more appointments would follow, demonstrating the government’s commitment to inclusivity and representation.

The development projects and initiatives in Ogoniland are seen as a testament to the president’s commitment to addressing the region’s needs. The Ogoni people have historically faced environmental and socio-economic challenges, and the government’s efforts are aimed at mitigating these issues. As the region continues to benefit from these initiatives, it is expected that the quality of life for its inhabitants will improve significantly.

The minister’s visit and the government’s development projects in Ogoniland underscore the importance of addressing the needs of marginalized communities. The initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the region’s economy, education, and infrastructure, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the country.
