Kano APC Invites Governor Abba Yusuf to Defect

Party chieftain reveals reasons for mass defection to APC in Abia

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended an official invitation to Governor Abba Yusuf to defect from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and join the ruling party. This invitation was made by the state APC chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, on behalf of the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Umar Ganduje, on Tuesday.

According to Abbas, the invitation is a step towards achieving unity, reconciliation, and collective progress in Kano State. He emphasized that the APC is willing to welcome Governor Yusuf with open arms, combining their strengths to drive the state’s progress. This development follows a statement by the Director-General of the Protocol Directorate of the Kano State Government House, Abdullahi Rogo, who claimed that citizens and voters in the state have agreed that Governor Yusuf and Rabiu Kwankwaso should defect to the APC from the NNPP.

In response to the invitation, the NNPP held a press briefing on Monday, where they appealed to Governor Yusuf not to defect to the APC. The party’s stance suggests an attempt to retain its key members and maintain its political presence in the state.

The invitation to Governor Yusuf is significant, given the political landscape in Kano State. The APC’s move to welcome the governor and potentially other NNPP members could impact the state’s political dynamics and the balance of power between the parties. The decision by Governor Yusuf and other stakeholders will be closely watched, as it may have implications for the state’s governance and political alignments in the future.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Governor Yusuf will respond to the APC’s invitation and the NNPP’s appeal. The outcome of this development will likely influence the political trajectory of Kano State and the relationships between its major political parties.
