Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the reelection of President Tinubu in the 2027 elections. During a visit to Eleme Local Government Area in Rivers State, Wike emphasized that the decision to back Tinubu’s second term is irreversible. He attributed this stance to the need to correct perceived leadership mistakes at the state level.
Wike acknowledged that some individuals in Rivers State have been swayed by financial incentives and power, leading to greed and a lack of gratitude. He urged the people of Eleme to remain strong and not be intimidated, stating that no amount of money can alter their course. The minister expressed his appreciation to the Eleme community for their support of Tinubu, highlighting the president’s unprecedented decision to appoint a South-South person as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Representative Aforji Igwe of the Rivers State Assembly praised Wike as a fair and just individual, pledging the support of Eleme people due to his outstanding contributions to the community. Similarly, Chairman of Eleme Council, Obarilormate Ollor, commended Wike for his infrastructural development initiatives in the area during his tenure as governor. Ollor assured Wike that the people of Eleme are prepared to follow his direction, including his support for Tinubu’s reelection, and are awaiting further guidance on the 2027 governorship election.
Wike’s visit to Eleme Local Government Area is significant, as it demonstrates his commitment to mobilizing support for President Tinubu’s reelection bid. With the 2027 elections approaching, Wike’s stance is likely to influence the political landscape in Rivers State. As the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike’s endorsement of Tinubu’s second term underscores the ongoing political developments in Nigeria, where alliances and support from key stakeholders can shape the outcome of future elections.
