Plateau Governor Defects to APC, Promises Inclusive Leadership

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The governor’s membership card was presented to him by the state’s APC chairman, Rufus Bature, on Friday in Jos. According to Mutfwang, his decision to join the APC is driven by the interest of the state. He assured the people of Plateau State that despite the change in party affiliation, his administration would maintain an all-inclusive approach.

Mutfwang called on the residents of the state to unite and work together, emphasizing that his defection is a journey of faith that will yield positive outcomes for the state. He also addressed concerns from skeptics, urging them to be patient and promising that time will reveal the benefits of his decision. The governor further extended an olive branch to those who may be apprehensive, encouraging them to relax and cooperate with his administration.

Prior to his defection, Mutfwang was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him with a platform to pursue his political career. The governor believes that his new affiliation with the APC will enable him to deliver qualitative leadership to the state.

Mutfwang also thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support for Plateau State, pledging to back the president’s re-election bid in 2027. The development is significant, as it underscores the evolving political landscape in Nigeria. With this move, Governor Mutfwang joins the ranks of other high-profile politicians who have defected to the APC in recent times.

The implications of Mutfwang’s defection are likely to be far-reaching, with potential effects on the political dynamics of Plateau State and the broader Nigerian political scene. As the state prepares for future elections, the governor’s new party affiliation is expected to influence the political terrain. For now, Governor Mutfwang has reiterated his commitment to working tirelessly for the benefit of the people of Plateau State, regardless of party affiliations.
