Regina Akume Reaffirms Loyalty to Husband SGF George Akume

Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, has publicly reaffirmed her marital commitment amid reports that her husband has taken a new wife. The lawmaker representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives made the declaration during a New Year Mass service in a video that has since gone viral.

In her address, Regina Akume emphasized her enduring love and loyalty to the SGF, asserting her position as his sole legitimate wife. “I want to tell the world that I still love Mr. George (Akume). He is my husband,” she stated, pointing to their children present at the event. “I have no other husband but him. I do not care what the world says.”

The public statement follows circulating rumors regarding the SGF’s recent marriage to Zaynab, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife. While the lawmaker did not explicitly name the other woman, her comments are widely seen as a direct response to the growing social and political discourse surrounding the union.

Beyond the family developments, Regina Akume also used the opportunity to share a personal testimony regarding her health. She described a recent medical challenge as a difficult period that tested her faith and strength. She credited her recovery to divine intervention, describing God as the “Almighty Father” and affirming her gratitude for her restored health.

“I thank God for granting me healing and making me healthy again,” she said.
