Terrorism: Governor Abiodun Condemns Niger State Attack

Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has condemned the killing of at least 42 people and the abduction of several others by terrorists in Niger State. The attack, which occurred in Agwarra and Borgu Local Government Areas, has been described as a callous and senseless crime against humanity.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Governor Abiodun expressed condolences to the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, and the people of the state. He called on security agencies to track down and prosecute the perpetrators, emphasizing that such acts of brutality must not go unpunished. The governor sympathized with the families and communities affected by the attack, lamenting the brutal murder of innocent citizens.

The incident has sparked widespread concern, with Governor Abiodun urging the Niger State Government to continue protecting lives and property. On behalf of the Ogun State Government and the Southern Governors’ Forum, he commiserated with the Government and people of Niger State over the dastardly attacks. Abiodun urged Governor Bago not to allow the incident to dampen his morale and determination to safeguard lives and property in the state.

The attack has been described as a stain on the nation’s conscience, with Governor Abiodun stressing that such barbaric acts must never be allowed to recur. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and for divine strength for their families to bear the loss. The governor called for decisive action, urging security agencies to deploy all available resources to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The Niger State attack is the latest in a series of security incidents in the country, highlighting the need for increased efforts to combat terrorism and protect citizens. Governor Abiodun’s statement emphasizes the importance of holding perpetrators accountable and providing support to affected communities. As the investigation into the attack continues, the governor’s call for decisive action is likely to resonate with many Nigerians who are seeking greater security and protection from terrorist activities.
