Nigeria Police recruitment free from extortion scams

The Police Service Commission of Nigeria has issued a warning to cyber cafés and recruitment agents against extorting money from individuals seeking to join the Nigeria Police Force. This caution comes after reports emerged that some applicants were being charged exorbitant fees, ranging from N15,000 or more, under false pretenses.

According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Torty Njoku, these claims of fee collection are entirely false and deceptive. The PSC has received complaints about unscrupulous elements preying on unsuspecting applicants, demanding money in exchange for supposed assistance with the police recruitment process. However, the Commission emphasizes that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force is completely free of charge, with no fees required at any stage of the application process.

To avoid falling victim to such scams, the PSC advises prospective candidates to personally submit their applications through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, without involving third-party agents. The Commission warns that individuals found engaging in fraudulent recruitment practices will face prosecution in accordance with the law. Applicants who encounter any requests for payment are encouraged to report such incidents to the nearest police station or directly to the PSC via 07054992071, using SMS or WhatsApp.

The Police Service Commission reassures Nigerians of its commitment to upholding a merit-based and accessible recruitment process, free from corruption and extortion. By taking a firm stance against fraudulent activities, the Commission aims to ensure that the recruitment process remains transparent and fair for all applicants. As the Nigeria Police Force continues to seek new recruits, the PSC’s efforts to combat extortion and corruption serve as a crucial step towards maintaining the integrity of the recruitment process. With the official recruitment portal providing a secure and free platform for applicants, the Commission encourages all eligible individuals to apply, while remaining vigilant against potential scams and fraudulent activities.
