Lagos APC Launches Digital Membership Registration Drive

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has launched an electronic membership registration drive, aiming to create a comprehensive digital database of its members. The e-registration initiative, which started on Monday, will run until the end of January and targets both existing and new members.

According to Seye Oladejo, the party’s spokesperson, the digital registration process is designed to enhance internal democracy, improve data accuracy, and prepare the party for upcoming elections. By adopting digital registration, the party seeks to eliminate duplication and impersonation, ensuring that every member is accurately documented and verifiable.

The initiative also aims to promote transparency and equal recognition for all members, regardless of their tenure or status within the party. This move is expected to curb gatekeeping practices and ensure that all members have a voice in the party’s decision-making processes.

Oladejo emphasized the importance of maintaining a credible and reliable membership registry, which is essential for conducting transparent congresses, primaries, and leadership selection processes. The use of technology is also expected to encourage participation from youth, professionals, and first-time political entrants, while improving grassroots coordination and electoral readiness.

The electronic registration drive is a significant step towards strengthening the party’s internal processes and preparing it for future electoral engagements. The party has urged all its members across Lagos State to participate actively in the exercise, describing it as a collective responsibility vital to the party’s growth and democratic processes.

The All Progressives Congress is one of the major political parties in Nigeria, and its efforts to digitize its membership registration process reflect the country’s growing adoption of technology in political processes. As the party continues to implement this initiative, it is likely to have a significant impact on its internal dynamics and overall performance in future elections. With the registration drive set to continue until the end of January, the party is poised to create a more robust and transparent membership database, which will be essential for its future success.
