2027: Engage in constructive debate - Lagos APC tackles opposition

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has launched an electronic membership registration drive to create a comprehensive digital database of its members. The e‑registration initiative, which began on Monday, will run until the end of January and targets both existing and new members.

According to Seye Oladejo, the party’s spokesperson, the digital registration process is designed to enhance internal democracy, improve data accuracy, and prepare the party for upcoming elections. By adopting digital registration, the party seeks to eliminate duplication and impersonation, ensuring that every member is accurately documented and verifiable. The initiative also aims to promote transparency and equal recognition for all members, regardless of tenure or status within the party.

Oladejo emphasized that a credible and reliable membership registry is essential for conducting transparent congresses, primaries, and leadership selection processes. The use of technology is expected to encourage participation from youth, professionals, and first‑time political entrants, while improving grassroots coordination and electoral readiness.

The electronic registration drive represents a significant step toward strengthening the party’s internal processes and preparing it for future electoral engagements. The party has urged all members across Lagos State to participate actively, describing the exercise as a collective responsibility vital to the party’s growth and democratic processes.

As one of Nigeria’s major political parties, the All Progressives Congress’s effort to digitize its membership registration reflects the country’s growing adoption of technology in politics. With the drive continuing until the end of January, the party aims to build a more robust and transparent membership database, which will be essential for its future success.
