Sheikh Gumi’s mother dies at 84

Aishatu-Dammu Gumi, the mother of a renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has died aged 84.

Her son Usman Gumi confirmed the death to DAILY NIGERIAN, saying she died on Sunday at the Federal Medical Center, FMC Abuja.

She left behind 11 children and many grandchildren.

According to him, her funeral would take place at the family’s Modibbo Adama residence, Kaduna on Monday.

A scion of the founder of Sokoto Caliphate, Usmanu Danfodio, the late matriarch was one of the wives of a famous Sunni cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi.
